Type your phone model in the chat and our AI assistant will check it instantly and recommend a travel eSIM plan for your trip.
Check in AI Chat →An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a small chip built directly into your phone. Instead of inserting a physical plastic SIM card, you scan a QR code or enter a code provided by your carrier to activate a plan. This means you can have multiple numbers or switch providers without physically swapping SIMs — perfect for international travel.
All iPhones from the XS (2018) onwards support eSIM. The iPhone 14 sold in the US is eSIM-only — it has no physical SIM tray at all. International models of the 14, 15, and 16 series still have a physical SIM slot alongside eSIM. To check: go to Settings → General → About and look for "EID" — if it's present, you have eSIM.
Galaxy S-series phones from the S20 onwards generally support eSIM, but availability depends on the regional variant (e.g., some Asian markets ship with dual nano-SIM instead). Galaxy Z Fold and Flip foldable phones support eSIM from the 3rd generation onwards. Galaxy A-series support is limited to mid-range and flagship A models (A35+, A54+). To check: dial *#06# — if an EID appears you have eSIM.
All Pixel phones from the Pixel 3a onwards support eSIM. Pixels are widely regarded as the most eSIM-friendly Android phones because they support standard eSIM profiles across all major carriers worldwide. The Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold also support eSIM.
The quickest way is to dial *#06# from the phone dialler. If an EID (Embedded Identity Document number) is shown alongside the IMEI, your phone has an eSIM chip. Alternatively, go to Settings → Connections (or Network) → SIM Manager and look for an "Add mobile plan" or "Add eSIM" option.
Almost — but two conditions apply: (1) The phone must be carrier-unlocked. Phones locked to a specific carrier may block eSIM activation on other networks. (2) Some manufacturers ship region-specific variants that omit eSIM even though the hardware exists (common in China for certain models). Always confirm your specific variant.
A travel eSIM (like those offered through eSIMDB) lets you add a local data plan for a destination without changing your home SIM. They work as a second eSIM profile alongside your existing home plan — so you keep your regular number active while browsing on a cheap local data rate abroad.
